Hurrah! We have a fabulous new range of handmade and ethically made toys suitable for newborns at Rosy Rosie.
We’ve been looking for a range of soft toys for babies for some time. Toys for the under three’s have to meet particular safety standards and be up to taking a lot of grabbing, banging, waving and chewing. But also they needed to be handmade and/or ethical to meet the Rosy Rosie ‘criteria.’
So we were very excited to meet Best Years at Bubble London earlier this year as they are an ethical and fair trade toy wholesaler who distribute Pebble toys in Europe.
All Pebble products are made by Hathay Bunano. Hathay Bunano, meaning hand made or hand knitted in Bangla, is a non-profit, fair trade organisation in Bangladesh. It’s mission is to create fairly paid, good quality, flexible and local employment for rural women that allows them to work locally in their rural communities and not have to relocate into cities where often the standard of living is worse and childcare more difficult.
It was started in 2004 and now there are a number of centres across the country where the women make a variety of really lovely handmade crochet toys and rattles that are vibrant and full of character.
We love them and think that they make a perfect addition to the Rosy Rosie family!
